Our client is looking for an experienced Senior WordPress Developer to join a distributed team working on complex, high-performance WordPress solutions for enterprise-level platforms.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop custom WordPress themes, plugins, and Gutenberg blocks following best practices
  • Design and maintain scalable backend architecture using PHP, MySQL, REST APIs, and modern coding standards
  • Implement advanced WordPress functionality, including custom post types, taxonomies, user roles, and content workflows
  • Ensure compliance with WordPress VIP coding standards, security, and architectural principles
  • Optimize WordPress applications for performance, scalability, and reliability using caching, CDNs, and server-level optimizations
  • Write clean, secure, and well-tested code; perform code reviews and refactor legacy solutions
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams on CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and performance audits
  • Troubleshoot complex issues related to APIs, performance, security, and hosting infrastructure
  • Participate in architecture design, technical planning, and sprint ceremonies
  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to engineering best practices and documentation
Required Skills & Experience
  • 5-6 years of hands-on experience with WordPress development
  • Experience in custom themes, plugins, Gutenberg (React), WP hooks, filters, REST APIs, and WP-CLI
  • Experience with PHP 7/8, OOP, MVC principles, and Composer
  • Frontend skills with HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, JavaScript, React
  • Understanding of MySQL optimization, caching (Redis, Memcached), and CDN integration
  • Knowledge of WordPress security best practices
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD workflows, and collaborative development
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  •  Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively in cross-functional teams
Nice to Have:
  • Experience with Headless WordPress (Next.js, Gatsby, React)
  • Familiarity with WordPress VIP, WP Engine, Pantheon, or other enterprise hosting platforms
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Experience with performance audits, Core Web Vitals, and Lighthouse optimization
  • Experience integrating third-party systems (CRM, analytics, marketing automation, paywalls)
